Welcome to Metal Cats, a heartfelt initiative by Metal Pets, a husband-and-wife team based in Melbourne, Australia. We’ve combined our love for animals and art to create unique metal pieces that support non-profit animal welfare shelters across the nation.

Our Mission

Australia faces a significant challenge with homeless pets. Each year, approximately 200,000 dogs and 180,000 cats are admitted to shelters nationwide. Tragically, about 20% of these dogs and a substantial number of cats are euthanized due to factors such as behavioral issues, medical conditions, or simply a lack of resources to care for them.

The financial strain on shelters is immense. For example, the Animal Welfare League NSW reports that keeping a dog for a year costs approximately $5,200, while a cat costs about $2,900. These expenses cover essentials like food, utilities, and medical care, including desexing procedures. Without adequate funding, shelters face the heartbreaking decision to euthanize animals due to overcrowding and limited resources.

Our mission is to transform our metal art into a sustainable revenue stream for these shelters. A portion of every purchase directly supports non-profit shelters, helping them cover overheads and provide the necessary care to rehome animals.

Our Vision

Since our launch in late 2023, the positive feedback from customers nationwide has been inspiring. While we’re still finding our feet, our long-term vision is ambitious: to expand Metal Cats into the USA, Germany, and France in the coming years. This expansion aims to broaden our impact, supporting animal shelters internationally.

Building this dream has required a significant financial investment, and while we’ve yet to turn a profit, profit isn’t our primary goal. Our focus is on creating a viable system that sustains itself, allowing us to channel resources into this important cause. Developing such a system takes both time and resources, but we are dedicated to making it work.
